| The YWCA Transitional Living Director presents the program at the October 2009 meeting. |
Our members are active in giving back to our community through group projects, as well as the many, many hours of
individual volunteering that is done on a regular basis.
Our largest group project
is the donation of household items such as cleaning supplies, paper towels, bathroom tissue, towels, wash cloths and personal
care items given to the Y.W.C.A. of Van Wert and their Transitional Living Program. This program houses women and their
children (males under 8 years only) who have no place else to live and are working to get back on their feet financially.
The many hours of individual volunteering are too numerous
to mention, but done mostly through our American Red Cross at our local hospital and wellness center as guides, clerks and
greeters, and as "on call" drivers to transport blood products from the Regional Distribution Center in Ft. Wayne,
IN to various area hospitals. Several members are also very involved in serving in various capacities at the Niswonger Performing
Arts Center here in Van Wert, as well as at the Brumback Library. Others provide service to the Wassenberg Art Center.
